MARY CHERWYN L. CASTRO, RCh practices intellectual property in the areas of patents, industrial designs and utility models. She is an expert in handling patent matters involving chemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, agricultural, food, cosmetics and other related fields. Her expertise includes drafting, preparation and prosecution of patent applications. She is also proficient in conducting patent searches, evaluation, and analysis of patent search results and preparation of expert advice on patentability, patent availability, patent validity and enforceability and infringement issues.

The list of trainings and seminars Ms. Castro has had in various fields of art includes the global Denso Youth for Earth Action; a program sponsored by DENSO Corporation and the Japanese Ministry of Environment to build on leaders in various fields through youth resource development. This program was held in year 2010 in Hanoi, Vietnam (August 3-5,) and Nagoya, Japan (October 6-19 and December 9-11). She continues to attend local and foreign IP conventions and trainings to be acquainted with important IP developments.

Ms. Castro earned her degree in Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of the Philippines Manila. She is a recipient of the AIG Institute of International Education Scholarship Grant. She was also a founding member of the first environmental organization in UP Manila, the UP One Earth. In the year 2009, she was elected as the Councilor for Academic and Freshmen Affairs of the UP Manila campus. She also took an active part in various student organizations inside and outside UP like Bigkis ng mga Iskolar Para sa Bayan Tungo sa Makabuluhang Pagbabago (BIGKIS-UPM), Philippine Association of Chemistry Students, Student Council Alliance of the Philippines (SCAP), Biochemistry Society of UP Manila, UP-PGH Emergency Room Volunteers (PAHINUNGOD), UP Manila Debate Circle, First Time Voters Network, Kabataan ng Bulacan na Naglilingkod tungo sa Pagkalingang Sambayanan (KINABUKASAN) and Sto. Cristo Parish Commission on Youth.
